COUNTRY MUSIC NEWCOMER CREATING BUZZ – MEET LIZZIE SIDER

Yesterday, we introduced you to Ryan Weaver, and in today’s Newcomers Creating Buzz segment, we introduce you to Lizzie Sider.

Tell us about yourself – Where are you from and how did you get started in country music?

My name is Lizzie Sider, and I am a 15 year old country music singer/songwriter. I live in both South Florida and Nashville, originally from South Florida. A lot of people ask me how I can be country when I am from South Florida; Every summer since I was two months old, my parents and I have been spending the greater part of our summer in Jackson Hole, Wyoming.

It is my favorite place in the world, and it is so country out there. Every night, my parents would play music of country music legends, such as Patsy Cline, Loretta Lynn, Gene Autry, Marty Robbins, George Strait, the list goes on and on. From a very young age, country just soaked into my soul. I grew up being surrounded by everything country, and that’s always been where my heart is.

Are you also a songwriter?

Yes, I am a songwriter. I love to write; I feel that writing a song is my way of pouring my heart out. I can really connect with it, and I find myself writing ideas down everywhere, and on everything.

What are you working on right now? New album? Touring? New video?

I am currently working on a full-length album. Most of the music is recorded by Jason Aldean’sband, some songs produced by Joe Vulpis, and some by Jamie O’Neal, and almost everything I either solely wrote or co-wrote with some fantastic writers.

There are some emotional ballads, fun mid-tempo’s, and some crazy up tempo’s that will definitely make you want to get up and dance. I am very proud of this album, and I am so excited for everyone to hear it! My latest music video, “I Love You That Much”, produced by Steven Goldmann, is available to watch on YouTube!

What’s your favorite cover song to play live?

One of my favorite things is taking a song, sung by someone else, and making it my own. “I Heard It Through The Grapevine”, originally by Marvin Gaye, is definitely one of my favorite cover songs to play live.

I heard someone do a really cool version of it not too long ago, so I took that and put a Lizzie spin on it. It’s fun for both the band and me!

Who are your musical influences?

As I mentioned before, I grew up listening to older generation country artists, so naturally those artists influence me. Some musical influences of mine include Eva Cassidy, Kelly Clarkson, Faith Hill, Leona Lewis, and Carrie Underwood.

There are specific things that I admire about each of these artists, whether it be their expression, power, or musicality. I always strive to improve my musical skills, and I do that partly by learning from my inspirations.

How has social media changed/influenced your career?

I have many social media sites, and I love being able to connect with my fans. I get messages on my websites almost every day from people who tell me that my music has inspired them, or that I have inspired them in some way. When I read those messages, I get an incredible feeling of fulfillment.

It means a lot to me that the things I am doing are making people’s lives just a little better. A few of my goals are to inspire and encourage others, be a role model, and make the world a better place.

Tell us something about yourself that not many people know, but you wish they did.

I am a huge old-time entertainment fan. That includes movies, plays, television shows, music… Every Sunday, after church with my mom and grandma, we would typically go back to my grandma’s house, sit on her lounge chairs in the living room, and watch an old movie.

Some of my favorites are “Seven Brides for Seven Brothers”, “Lili”, “An Affair to Remember”, “The Enchanted Cottage”, “Sabrina”, “The Glass Slipper”… I could not possibly name them all. Some of my favorite television shows are “The Andy Griffith Show”, “I Love Lucy”, and “Green Acres”. Also, I love listening to Frank Sinatra, and other artists of his era. And, I collect vinyl records!
