My friendship with Stephanie started one day when, after her father heard me play at a songwriters night at the Hotel Indigo in downtown Nashville, he brought her down from the hotel room to meet me, fuzzy slippers and all. She had been undergoing treatment for leukemia. I was honored when Stephanie asked me to perform at her benefit, and was thrilled when she came to Nashville with family and friends to see me perform at the Wildhorse.
