NEWCOMER LIZZIE SIDER REVS UP TO SING NATIONAL ANTHEM AT NHRA SPRING NATIONALS

Newcomer Lizzie Sider, a 15-year-old emerging country artist, will undertake the sometimes-daunting task of performing the national anthem at the O’Reilly Auto Parts NHRA SpringNationals in Houston on Sunday, April 27.

For Lizzie, however, singing “The Star-Spangled Banner” is a piece of cake, if you will, for she’s been performing the anthem since she was 9, she said in an April 17 correspondence. When she sings the anthem later this month, it will be at the Lone Star State’s Royal Purple Raceway, just outside Houston.

In the meantime, Lizzie is currently on a statewide school-assembly tour in Texas to promote bullying prevention. During the two-month tour, which started April 9, Lizzie will appear at more than 70 schools.

“The anthem is a very tricky song to sing because of its gigantic vocal range, but the adrenaline from the moment makes it a whole lot easier,” Lizzie shared exclusively with Examiner.com on April 18. “Besides, it’s so much fun and it’s always an honor and a privilege!”

Per her PR camp, the tour follows on the heels of her previous California and Florida tours in which she shares her positive message with young students at 180-plus schools. Thus, it’s estimated that by the close of the 2013-2014 school year, Lizzie will have met with nearly 100,000 students.

During her assemblies, Lizzie encourages kids to help prevent bullying, as she recounts her own personal journey as a young student who was teased. She also performs her original song, "Butterfly," which she co-wrote about her experience and how she overcame the teasing and childhood bullying.

As for where she calls home, Lizzie splits her time between Florida and Music City these days, with plans to take part in her second-ever CMA Fest week this June with her own booth and live performances on the Roadhouse Stage and at the Bluebird Café.

Both “Butterfly” and Sider’s follow-up single, “I Love You That Much,” charted in the Top 40 on MusicRow. The video for “I Love You That Much” was directed by award-winning Steven Goldmann, whose past credits include Alan Jackson, Martina McBride and Shania Twain. At present, Sider is at work on her first full-length studio album for a 2014 release.
