GIRLS MAKING A DIFFERENCE: MEET ANTI-BULLYING ADVOCATE LIZZIE SIDER!
From BYOU By Debra Guano
Because October is National Bullying Prevention Month, we honored three amazing teen girls in our FALL 2014 “Girls Making a Difference” feature that are working to prevent bullying; one of those girls is Lizzie Sider.
In elementary school, Lizzie Sider was teased and ridiculed. Today, this 16-year-old country singer/songwriter from South Florida visits schools and leads anti-bullying assemblies. During the last school year, Lizzie met with over 100,000 students in over 250 schools in California, Florida, and Texas.
At the end of each assembly, Lizzie performs her original song “Butterfly,” which she co-wrote about her experience and how she overcame the teasing. Watch the music video here:
Check out Lizzie’s official lyric video for the song, too.
For the 2014 – 2015 school year, Lizzie will be visiting ten cities across the country where she will spend a week in each and fully emerge herself into that community to promote her message of bullying prevention. Check out her website, LizzieSider.com, for more information.
